November 15, 2019

– Google has just added Suki—an AI-powered, voice-enabled digital assistant that lifts the administrative burden from doctors—as one of Google Cloud Global Healthcare Solutions’ first clinical digital voice assistant partners.

– As one of Google Cloud’s first partners offering a digital clinical assistant, Suki will also use its voice technology to develop and improve language models for physician-focused applications.

Suki, an AI-powered, voice-enabled digital assistant that lifts the administrative burden from doctors announced its partnership with Google Cloud. As a partner in the Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program, Suki will benefit from access to Google Cloud’s latest artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud technology.

As one of Google Cloud’s first partners offering a digital clinical assistant, Suki will also use its voice technology to develop and improve language models for physician-focused apps. A true digital assistant, Suki understands the intent and individual speaking styles from conversations in clinical practice, adapting to a physician’s commands to become more personalized as they use it. Through its partnership with Google Cloud, Suki will tap into Google’s advanced AI and machine learning technologies, which are central to Suki’s ability to complete administrative tasks such as clinical documentation or information retrieval from an EHR with great accuracy.

Growing Adoption of Digital Voice Assistants in Healthcare

The leading cloud services companies are making a considerable push into the healthcare provider space increasingly focused on not just storing and accessing health data but on developing applications that will reimagine the clinical experience. Digital voice assistants are the next frontier, with Microsoft inking a partnership with Nuance earlier this month and now Google partnering with Suki (the head of Google Health just talked about the need to free doctors from clerical tasks at a conference this morning). The deals represent two very different paths to clinical AI voice solutions from the two companies leading health systems’ shift to AI.

Suki Lowers Average Time Per Note for Clinicians

Since launching in May of 2018, Suki has already been adopted across a variety of clinical settings and in dozens of medical specialties. Across its physician base, Suki has lowered the average time per note from more than 13 minutes to just over 3 minutes (76 percent). This is significant, as studies have shown that for every hour of direct clinical facetime with a patient, physicians spend nearly two additional hours on medical paperwork.

“Google’s AI and cloud offerings are already advancing innovative, new clinical solutions across the health care system. As a partner of Google Cloud, we hope to provide even greater value to enterprise health systems by improving clinical workflows, relieving physician burnout, and, most importantly, help more doctors in more specialties remain focused on delivering high-quality care,” said Punit Soni, founder and CEO of Suki.
