Members of Generation X, defined as those aged 35 to 54 in 2019, beat out all other generational cohorts in their usage of digital health tools to monitor medical conditions and track their health and fitness in a new Redox survey.
In a survey of more than 1,000 American adults, Gen X was found to be 37 percent more likely than Gen Z, 31 percent more likely than baby boomers and 4 percent more likely than millennials to use a mobile app to manage a medical condition.
Additionally, the cohort was 48 percent more likely than boomers, 15 percent more likely than Gen Z and 7 percent more likely than millennials to use a digital health app to monitor their fitness and other wellness efforts.
Respondents cited the opportunity for enhanced communication with healthcare providers and the ability to better engage with their own health as top reasons to use mobile apps to track health. Conversely, those reluctant to use digital health tools said privacy and security were their main concerns; of those surveyed, baby boomers were most concerned about security.
