The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives has named several North Texas Healthcare Systems to its list of the nation’s “Most Wired” health care systems. The program awards health systems use of informational technology and recognizes organizations that adopt, implement and use best practices in the field.
Texas is home to 11 of the most wired health systems in the country. Children’s Health, Cook Children’s, JPS, Texas Health Resources and UTSW also made the list in North Texas.
THR has been named to the list 18 of 20 times, and highlights its use of electronic health records which are shared between their 14 hospitals and 25 acute-care and short stay hospital locations. THR’s 7 million patient records are a result of $200 million initiative that began in 2006, allowing hospital staff to to share and manage patient information. Patients can access their own health records online as well via MyChart.
“Our continued national recognition is humbling, but we also know that much responsibility comes with the ability to simultaneously use technology and safeguard patient information,” said Joey Sudomir, senior vice president and chief information officer for Texas Health via release. “It’s something that’s not taken lightly. We understand and take pride in knowing that North Texans have entrusted us to securely enhance their patient care, along with that of their loved ones.”

“As a health care system, we’re constantly assisting healthcare providers with better access to patient information in real time,” Sudomir said via release. “With MyChart, we empower patients to readily access their health records, too. We’re always looking at ways to enhance patient delivery through innovation. We don’t do it for the accolades though. It’s just the right thing to do.”
